Court has satisfied suit in favor of editorial staff of newspaper “Zamana”

On February 04, 2010 Judge of Enbekshi District Court of Shymkent Klara Zhaypasheva dismissed suit of Acting Director of Secondary School-Gymnasia № 38 of Shymkent Mukhtar Seyitkhozhayev and Deputy Director of Pedagogical Work Ayzhan Kurishbayeva addressed to Enbekshi District Court of Shymkent with suit about protection honor, dignity and business reputation to the editorial staff of newspaper “Zamana” and journalist Zhuldyzay Kalauova (her pseudonym Zh. Aynatas). Plaintiffs asked recovery of 2000000 tenge ($13500 USD) as moral damage from defendants in solidarity order.
The charges stemmed from article “Sponger, beast and drudge”, “Is it possible to call a schoolboy?” and “What for can schoolboy be expelled from school?” by Zhuldyzay Kalauova published in the newspaper “Zamana” (on October 26 and November 02, 2009). These articles were devoted to disorder of pedagogical ethics.
Lawyers of International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech “Adil soz” gave legal advice for the editorial staff of newspaper “Zamana”.
