Group of activists of party “Alga” and journalists were detained by policemen

Annual Award “Freedom” was awarded to journalist Ramazan Yesergepov, human rights activist Eugene Zhovtis and former head of atomic energy Mukhtar Zhakishev on January 19, 2010 in Astana.
Wives of jailed candidates for an award could receive this award.
After this arrangement the group of activists of non-registered party “Alga” and independent journalists Andrei Sviridov, Mariyam Ungarova and head of press service of party “Alga” Andrei Sivko came to Ministry of Justice. They put in an application of precipitation of party registration.
Group of activists of party “Alga” and journalists were detained and sent to Almaty and Yesil District Department of Internal Affairs of Astana by policemen on the bridge.
They have been in assembly hall of Almaty District Department of Internal Affairs of Astana during three hours and released without charge.
Head of Almaty District Department of Internal Affairs of Astana refused to make a commentary for journalists, concerning reason of their detention.
