Journalist Vadim Kuramshin has been convicted for libel He went on hunger-strike

Journalist Vadim Kuramshin has been in imprisonment. He has made a statement for mass media about beginning of hunger-strike as a protest against abandonment of release on parole on August 6, 2009.
Vadim Kuramshin is freelance journalist of some Kazakhstan’s mass media. He was convicted for libel and for a period up to three years and ten months of imprisonment by court of Petropavlovsk in September 2006. The charges stemmed from article “Shall we remake dray whether on barricades?” by Kuramshin, published in the newspaper “Epokha”. Vadim Kuramshin has told about economic dispute between owner of farm and villagers. As a result of it owner of farm has filed a suit on libel.
Employees of foundation “Adil soz” have begun investigation of material, for the purpose, if there are indications of libel.
