Supervisory Collegiums left decision standing about payment 30 000 000 tenge by staff of newspaper “Taszhargan”

On June 03, 2009 Supervisory Collegiums of Almaty City Court under chairmanship of A. Klassen left decision standing about payment 30 000 000 tenge by staff of the newspaper “Taszhargan” in favor of Deputy of Majilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Romin Madinov.
Founder of the newspaper “Taszhargan” LLP “DAT-XMedia”, Chief Editor Bakhytgul Makimbay and journalist Almas Kusherbayev were dismissed in consideration of supervisory appeal.
Deputy has disagreed with information in the article “Poor latifundist” of Almas Kusherbayev, published in the newspaper “Taszhargan” on April 24, 2009. Romin Madinov has demanded making an apology before him and recovery of 300 000 000 tenge as moral damage.
On January 16, 2009 Medeu District Court has made a judgment about refutation of information and recovery 3 000 000 tenge from the newspaper “Taszhargan” and its correspondent Almas Kusherbayev in favor of R. Madinov.
Defendants said that demand of recovery 3 000 000 tenge has not been logic and sufficient in their appeal, because editorial staff of the newspaper had no any money.
Board of Civil Cases of Almaty City Court has taken a decision to increase tenfold sum of recovery from 3 000 000 to 30 000 000 tenge (200 000USD) on February 26, 2009.
