President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev has signed a law “On Amendments into Some Legislative Acts of Mass Media of the Republic of Kazakhstan”

Governmental draft law “On Amendments into Some Legislative Acts of Mass Media of the Republic of Kazakhstan” was developed by Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan come to law-enforcement after its signing by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev.
There are new things in law ”On Mass Media”. There is dismissal of mass media’s registration, where is necessary to have license for activity, connected with process of TV and (or) Radio Broadcasting; exception from list of reasons of mass media’s re-registration of change of chief editor and address of the editorial office; there is no any necessity to prove by defendant that information is unfaithful; journalist can use audio or video records under having interview with citizens for future development of self-regulation of mass media.
President of the foundation “Adil soz” Tamara Kaleyeva has said to correspondent of PA News-Kazakhstan that this signed law is profitable for mass media of the Republic of Kazakhstan. First, it does not make worse situation of mass media and journalists.
She has pointed out that there were made important and detailed reforms. Tamara Kaleyeva has expressed her agreement with Representative Officer of OSCE of Freedom of Speech and Press Miklosh Harasti. It is necessary to understand law as first step on a way of future democratization of law “On Mass Media”.
