Judge has dismissed petition on making of expertise in case about stoppage of newspaper “Alma-ata Info”

There was continuation of hearing of the case about stoppage of issue of the newspaper “Alma-ata Info” in Specialized Inter District Economic Court of Almaty. PLC “Zhuldyz”, founder of the newspaper “Alma-ata Info” has addressed to Specialized Inter District Economic Court of Almaty with counter-claim to Department of Committee of National Security of Zhambyl region. This counter-claim has been about violation of sensitivity classification and put petition on making of philological expertise of documents of Department of Committee of National Security of Zhambyl region, published in the newspaper “Alma-ata Info”.

On February 06, 2009 judge of Specialized Inter District Economic Court of Almaty Kulshat Kyzymbetova has dismissed this petition. The ruling of judge Kyzymbetova was appealed in City Court. Next legal proceeding will be held on February 09, 2009 at 15.00 p.m.

Chief Editor of the newspaper “Alma-ata Info” is under arrest from February 06, 2009. He is charged under article 172 “Illegal Obtaining, Divulging of State Secrets” and article 228 “Abuse of Authority” of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
