Vlast.kz reporter detained in Nur-Sultan while covering a humorous rally
In the afternoon of August 25 in Nur-Sultan, the reporter of the online magazine Vlast.kz, Elizaveta Tsoi, on the assignment of the editorial office, arrived at the venue of the humorous action “Monstration” satirizing acute political and social topics.15 activists gathered in front of the Khan Shatyr shopping center with posters that the police did not give them to deploy. The activists, including the Vlast.kz reporter Elizaveta Tsoi was rudely put inot police vans and taken to the Esilsky District Police Department without any explanations or drawing up protocols. According Elizaveta Tsoi's words said to the Adil Soz correspondent, cell phones were taken from all activists without a seizure protocol, police pulled the phones from pockets and purses. Each of the detainees was interrogated in a separate room, while copies of the explanatory notes they were forced to write were not given to them. After an hour all of them were released. According to the journalist, some of the detainees were fined. However, the detention protocols were never drawn up.The journalist intends to file a complaint against the actions of the police with the Ministry of the Interior Affairs.
