14 march 2019

The police department of Aqmola region has satrted an official investigation on the application of the staff correspondent of the republican newspaper "Express K" Nurzhan Baymuldin on the actions of the head of the state language and information department Gulnar Pinchuk.

In February, Nurzhan Baymuldin was working on the article on the results of the administrative case against Mykola Shynkorenko, a resident of Kokshetau, whom inspectors of the police station accused of insubordination to authorities. The court dismissed the administrative proceedings against the resident of Kokshetau for lack of evidence of the offence and issued a specific ruling to the prosecutor of Kokshetau to take action against the police officers.

According to the journalist, on February 20, the head of the press service of the Aqmola Region Police Department Gulnar Pinchuk, to whom he asked for comments, began to demand from the journalist not submit his article to the newspaper, otherwise she would apply to the head of the Aqmola Police Department.

The Prosecutor's Office of Aqmola region, where to Baimuldin had filed the legal complaint in connection with impeding his professional activities, forwarded the complaint to the regional police department.

On 11 March, the correspondent of the Express K newspaper was invited to the Personnel Service of the Police Department.

The service's inspector asked in detail about the circumstances of the incident and the demands of  the head of the regional police press service.

The next day, the deputy head of the police department informed the police department about the beginning of the internal investigation, the results of which will follow at a later date.
