Security officers were fired. Is the subject closed?

On April 25 editorial staff of multimedia news and analysis portal informburo.kz informed about unpleasant incident which occurred at the concert of Dimash Kudaybergen in the Central Concert Hall of Astana. There was serious scuffle between security officers and journalists in the hall during the event. Witnesses of the incident had time to capture scuffle on video. The journalist of the Astana office of television channel “31 Channel” Ilya Rybin was captured on single picture of video clip he got into a tangle with security officers which led to scuffle.

The Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan was the organizer of Dimash Kudaybergen’s concert at the Central Concert Hall of Astana, so editorial staff of multimedia news and analysis portal informburo.kz addressed the Minister Arystanbek Mukhamediuly for the comment about the conflict. The Minister of Culture, who a priory must be most cultured person of country said: “Journalists are always guilty. Any journalist writes gossips and looking for PR. Otherwise, journalist will not make career or anything else”.

This incident itself as well as the position of the minister, exploded social networks. During discussion offers were submitted that Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan should file a lawsuit against Arystanbek Muhamediuly for slander of all journalists.

Acting Chairwoman of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Tamara Kaleyeva comments on this offer and incident:

According to law libel as well as humiliation of honour and dignity must be addressed to the concrete recognizable person, but not to community of professionals, so Mr. Mukhamediuly is invulnerable from the legal point of view. A different matter are ethical norms. It seems like the minister is simply unacquainted with code of ethics of civil servant. His understanding of mission and tasks of journalists is unthinkable. We are talking about public service of a journalist, his  mission to uncover the truth, but a member of Cabinet comments information on attack likethe mostdie-hard person. I am afraid that he is not the only such person  in the power structure. 

As for journalists who were injured in attack of security officers, television channel “31 Channel” has competent lawyers that can protect their employees.  There are a lot of such incidents; all security officers can not be fired and it seems that, there is no one, who can reeducate them and explain them rights of journalists.
