Members of Board of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan voted confidence Seitkazy Matayev
There was a wide session of members of Board of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan on October 25, 2016 in Almaty. Its participants adopted unanimously resolution with regard to the Chairman of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan S. Matayev:
“Members of Board and Directors of Branches of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan explored carefully all varieties of case towards charge of Chairman of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Seitkazy Matayev with embezzlement of public funds and evasion of the payment of taxes, sentence of court of the first instance and they concluded following.
Assertions have been repeated in indictment and in sentence frequently. Seitkazy Matayev realized all business-related relationships with Committee of Information and JSC “Kazakhtelecom” from their criminal intention and “aimed at embezzlement”, they have been absolutely unfounded.
All funds which have been received upon the results of tenders, National Press Club in full volume used, in accordance with charter purposes, results of audit control affirmed about it; investigation and court did not take it.
Seitkazy Matayev is an authoritative leader of journalistic community of Kazakhstan; he has done much for national journalism and reinforcement of image of Kazakhstan abroad.
Union of Journalists of some CIS-countries and far-abroad countries gave support to him. The European Parliament, OSCE, the International Press Institute, Committee to Protect Journalists, the International Freedom of Expression Exchange, International Confederation of Journalistic Unions and ARTICLE 19 defended him.
The Board of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan expressed their thanks to foreign colleagues for moral support of S. Matayev and in its turnvoted confidence him”. All members of board and chairmen of oblast branches, four of them with the help of video conference were involved in it. There was discussion of questions, related to work of board of Union of Journalists.
