Legal Literacy in the Age of AI: Seminar for Journalists Held in Kyzylorda

Today, for journalists, it is important not only to master the word but also to navigate the legal field with confidence. This was the focus of the seminar “Law and AI — Legal Challenges for Journalists”, held on August 14 in Kyzylorda.

The seminar was organized by the International Foundation for the Protection of Freedom of Speech “Adil Soz” with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Journalists and bloggers from the region gathered to discuss pressing professional challenges and to receive practical advice from the foundation’s lawyer, Sergey Utkin.

Throughout the day, participants examined what to do when filming is restricted in state or social institutions, how to respond to claims regarding online publications and comments, and what new questions and risks arise when artificial intelligence is used in media content.

The seminar demonstrated that the demand for such knowledge within the media community remains high, and that discussing real legal cases helps journalists find solutions applicable in practice. The “Adil Soz” Foundation will continue to organize similar educational events for journalists across the regions of Kazakhstan.
