Editor-in-chief of newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” Tamara Eslyamova was detained

On May 21, 2016 editor-in-chief of newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” Tamara Eslyamova reported over telephone correspondent of press agency “KazTAG” about blocking of the website of newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” (“Ural's Week”) within the territory of Kazakhstan (in particularly, evening of 20 May, 2016 about 22.30 p.m.). She said, that it was impossible to know reasons of blocking from providers. There was no any message or warning; and explained, that website was opened freely and without delay outside the territory of Kazakhstan. Eslyamova said about her effort to contact with providers, prosecutor's office, in order to find out reasons; expressed her firm belief, that website was blocked. A while later, T. Eslyamova informed about her detention and delivery to the Department of Internal Affairs of Uralsk, but policemen did not say to her about reasons of her detention. She went for a walk in the park. Earlier, deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” (“Ural's Week”) Raul Uporov and correspondent Kaliya Mustakhieva were detained. On May 21, 2016 a correspondent of press agency “KazTAG” informed about prevention of unsanctioned rallies in Uralsk. Policemen began to detain all people, who have been on central square, near city and oblast akimats (regional body of executive power). Over 60 persons were detained. There were 3 full prisoner transport vehicles. According to information source of the Department of Internal Affairs (West Kazakhstan Oblast), policemen would find out aims of detained people who have been on central square, near city and oblast akimats (regional body of executive power). There were some journalists, who had to monitor situation upon editorial task on central square of Uralsk. Policemen promised to release them after examination of documents.
