General Director of KazTAG Aset Matayev was placed under house arrest

On Monday Investigating Judge of Medeu District Court №2 Baurzhan Kunchayev has announced decision. The petition of senior officer of investigation and operational group of anti-corruption service, dated 28 March, 2016, concerning bail hearing in the form of house arrest with regard to Aset Matayev from March 28, 2016 to May 28, 2016 should be granted.

The court has banned Aset Matayev to leave his house, except for attendance of investigatory agencies and health care institutions, use some communications facilities, contact with his father Seitkazy Matayev and other relatives, except for his wife and children. The court has decided, that Aset Matayev should be placed under house arrest in the flat. This flat did not own to him. It is different from his registration and residential address.

Aset Matayev was delivered to court room in handcuffs; according to words of lawyers it was violation of the law, because he was not detained or arrested.

We would like remind you, that on February 22, 2016 Head of Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Seitkazy Matayev was detained. He was suspected of embezzlement of public funds and evasion of the payment of taxes. On February 24, 2016 Medeu District Court №2 of Almaty has designated bail hearing in the form of house arrest. The General Director of News Agency "KazTAG" Aset Matayev, who has, also been involved in this case he stated, that National Bureau of Anti-Corruption Service violated constitutional rights of his father. Seitkazy and Aset Matayevs denied charges which brought against them. They said, that amount of damage was mentioned without conduction of detailed and proper audit.
