Kazkommertsbank demanded KZT25000000 from website "Nakanune" as moral damage compensation

The charges originated from letter "New tiresome steps of Kazkommertsbank" by a reader which was published on October 15, 2014. In April, 2015 representatives of Kazkommertsbank have filed a suit against journalists; they demanded to remove a letter from website and recover KZT25000000 (1USD=185.95) as moral damage compensation for impairment of business reputation.  

The first trial took a place a week ago. Defendants proposed plaintiifs to solve a problem in pre-trial order, but representatives of Kazkommertsbank have taken a tough stance. During trial, it emerged, that journalists conducted their own investigation and control of facts which were stated in the letter, prior to publication. 

On June 08, 2015 during trial representative of defendant Sergei Utkin attempted to find out what damage meant from puiblication. The representative of Kazkommertsbank   Alipinova had been at a loss to answer and confined herself to general phrase. They did not calculate extent of damage, material damage was caused, but they did not deal with it and did not supposed it as recovery; they spoke about only compensation.  

The next trial will be held on June 19, 2015 at 10.00 a.m.
