Journalist Ramziya Yunusova was acquitted of slander case

On July 31, 2015 Al-Farabi District Court of Shymkent has acquitted journalist Ramziya Yunusova for absence of crime elements in her actions.   

The charges originated from article “Prosecutor’s millions” by Ramziya Yunusova which was published in newspaper “Central Asia Monitor” № 20 (544), on May 22, 2015. In her publication Ramziya Yunusova told about Talgat Seidualiev, who took out loan, he could not pay back loan and court’s decision bound him to pay the debt. Ramziya Yunusova was interested in situation around collection of money in order to pay back loan rapidly. She thought that supervisory authorities should make a point of this situation.

In her turn, Ramziya Yunusova did not agree with charge with regard to her and asked court to acquit for absence of elements of crime in the act. The concrete facts of case were mentioned, they could be verified. The plaintiff failed to prove subjective aspect, criminal intent and motive, glaring falsehood of disseminated information.  

The lawyer of foundation “Adil Soz” Ganna Krasilnikova has given legal assistance to Ramziya Yunusova.
