Editor of newspaper “Version” from Pavlodar Jaroslav Golyshkin was detained

On Thursday 14, 2015 a special group of CNS towards criminal case of intimidation and funds extortion from akim (governor) of Pavlodar oblast Kanat Bozumbaev, it detained editor of newspaper “Version” from Pavlodar Jaroslav Golyshkin. The editorial staff of newspaper “Version” informed foundation “Adil Soz”, on May 16, 2015, that they received arrest warrant of journalist up to two months. The representatives of Press Service of Pavlodar Oblast Court did not corroborate this information.      

Allegedly, arrest of editor of newspaper “Version” was connected with investigation of extortion case; akim (governor) of Pavlodar oblast Kanat Bozumbaev was intimidated supposedly. This case was opened upon suit of K. Bozumbaev, who said, that unknown persons intimidated him USD500000 in exchange for video, where  a victim who was raped in the state residency of oblast akim (governor) charged son of akim (governor) with crime.     

Journalists of Pavlodar noted, that conversations of rape within the territory of the state residency within two months took place. Within two months, media outlets wrote and sent letter-requests to law enforcement agencies , but did not receive any responses on them. The editorial staff of newspaper “Version” has published following information in column “rumors”; a son of high-ranked official raped girl on secure facility, then she was threatened to hush up.
