Sentence for Musagali Duambekov might be increased

On May 05, 2015 in his birthday civil activist, chairman of public foundation "National Anti-Corruption Committee" Musagali Duambekovwas summoned to Almalinsk District Court of Astana. The judge A. Ramazanova hasheld preliminaryhearing of the case. M. Duambekov was charged with abuse of conditions of execution of the sentence.

We would like to remind you that practically one year ago, on May 13, 2014 Musagali Duambekov was sentenced to one year of restriction of liberty by judge A. Ramazanova. He was charged with libel spread in media. The charges originated from two articles by M. Duambekov which were posted on the website INSIDERMAN. In his articles, he told about conflict situation between owners of small plant and their hired worker Alibek Iskakov. Prior to publications, Musagali Duambekov has represented the interests of A. Iskakov in civil court and won two trials. Pursuant to these litigations and having applied evidences of A. Iskakov, M. Duambekov wrote his articles.

Musagali Duambekov stated, that he was charged with abuse of conditions of restriction of liberty because of his travel to Kyzyl-Orda in order to attend at a funeral. The document which notified about it, it was lost somewhere in record-keeping office of local bodies of the penal system. Except for it, he did notregister in due order in surveillance body on March 20, 2015, because he went to the department on March 16 and 18, 2015 and attended it at once after celebration of Nauryz on March 25, 2015. For such “freedom”court will may extend term of execution of the sentence or increase it.
