Journalist Andrey Tsukanov was detained beaten and dishonored

In the evening on July 07, 2014 journalist of video-portal 16/12 Andrey Tsukanov was detained sent to the Department of Internal Affairs (Almalinsk district, Almaty). He said, that policemen obstructed his professional activity, beat him and took his videocamera by force.

Andrey Tsukanov told, that he covered actions of policemen towards women (in particularly, they dispersed them), who rented out flats daily on crossing of Abylai Khan prospect and Tole bi street. Andrey Tsukanov said, that policemen damaged his videocamera and one of the policemen, who held the rank of lieutenant began to strangle him.

- The street walkers saw policemen dealt cruelly with women and attacked me. A young couple passed by, fellow began to shoot it on his mobile phone. Policemen plucked him to the park and beat him,-says Andrey Tsukanov.

Andrey Tsukanov and these women were sent to Almalinsk District Department of Internal Affairs. Andrey Tsukanov said, that one of the policemen, who held the rank of lieutenant spat at him, dishonored him, slapped in his face and threatened imprisonment for obstruction to police officers.

-I was searched; policemen sued flash memory card. They removed detention files from videocamera. Then, I was released. They took a videocamera, certificate of identity and press card of journalist; policemen called him in for questioning, but they did not inform about accurate time, - said Andrey Tsukanov.

He intended to verify battery-induced injuries and file a complaint to the Public Prosecution Office and Internal Security Directorate of the Department of Internal Affairs of Almaty.
