On May 05, 2014 journalists of the newspaper "Uralskaya Nedelya" ("Ural's Week") to commemorate the World Press Freedom Day hold a campaign "Kitchen conversations" in the heart of Uralsk. In particular, journalists made decorations which designed atmosphere of typical kitchen; they intend to invite street walkers in order to discuss situation, related to necessity of independent press.

The journalist (this idea has originated with him) Peter Trotsenko said, that editorial staff of newspaper chose this form of intercommunication with audience. The state authority of Kazakhstan contrary to international obligations maintained punishment up to three years of imprisonment for libel in draft of Criminal Code.

Peter Trotsenko explains: "There are precedents in Kazakhstan. This norm was used against interests of Kazakhstan's society and rights of citizens to freedom of expression and information. Everyone of us know, that this law allows freedom of expression only within the boundaries of kitchen; the old tradition of kitchen discussions is revived against our will.
