Journalist Andrey Grishin complained to public prosecutor about actions of policemen

The Journalist of Kazakhstan International Bureau of Human Rights and Rule of Law Andrey Grishin has complained to the Public Prosecutor of Bostandyk District (Almaty) B. A. Zhumakanov about actions of Deputy for Head of Bostandyk District Department of Internal Affairs Berik Khamzin.
It was connected with unjustified detention of journalist near akimat (district administration) on February 15, 2014, where Andrey Grishin came up, in order to take comment from public figures, who met with akim (governor). Berik Khamzin came up to Andrey, first of all he demanded to present documents rudely. The journalist presented his identity card and service certificate policeman put them into his pocket and noted that journalists made a video record of something or somebody called to something and instigate somebody to do something; ordered to go into police car with two policemen. They made him to turn out his pockets and turn the contents of his backpack.
There were no any forbidden things in backpack of Andrey, but policemen took his video camera and mobile phone. Then, Andrey Grishin was sent to Bostandyk District Department of Internal Affairs.
Two hours later, he was released; policemen did not explain reasons of his detention.
Andrey Grishin stated, that fact of his detention and actions of Berik Khamzin has been direct interference of legal professional activity of journalist; it was committed by a person with the use of his official position (Article 155 p.2 of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
Except for it, Berik Khamzin prohibited media outlets and journalists to enter into Interdistrict Administrative Court of Almaty in order to attend open trials on detained participants of peaceful demonstration against consequences of devaluation on February 15, 2014 in the morning.
In his complaint, Andrey Grishin asked General Prosecutor’ s Office to pursue investigation of above mentioned facts, give legal evaluation and take measures of procuracy legality control with regard to Deputy for Head of Bostandyk District Department of Internal Affairs Berik Khamzin.
