Criminal case against deputy who attacked journalist Dauren Mustafin was closed

On August 28, 2013 Chief Prosecutor of Al-Farabi District (Shymkent) Maulen Musabekov said to the correspondent of foundation "Adil Soz", that Al-Farabi Police Station of Shymkent closed criminal case opened against Deputy of Maslikhat of Ordabasinsk District Abdraman Turmagambetov and his assistants, who attacked journalist of the newspaper "El Birligi" ("Unity of the Country") Dauren Mustafin. The case under article 327 "Arbitrairiness" of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan in relation to Turmagambetov and his assistants was terminated owing to the absence of elements of a crime in their actions. Chief Prosecutor of Al-Farabi District (Shymkent) Maulen Musabekov said, that all materials of this case would be submitted to Administrative Court.

Now, District Prosecutor's Office conducts verification of legality of adopted court decision.

On June 19, 2013 he bargained for rising of a trial in Al-Farabi Court of Shymkent. It was connected with conflict of a deputy of Maslikhat (Ordabasinsk District) and countrymen. When journalist intended to give an interview, deputy and some men nearly broke his photo camera, they took only his flash-card with daily rushes, then Dauren Mustafin was huddled into a car by force. Mustafin said that these people on the way threatened him and light bodily injury (they

hit him in his shoulder and punched in his face). He was able to call to police station from hall of business center "Altyn-Orda" ("Golden Orda"), where he was delivered by attackers. After telephone call to police station, they attempted to take his mobile phone, then attackers disappeared; probably, they were afraid of handling with law-enforcement agencies.

Doctors diagnosed Dauren Mustafin, he suffered from actions of attackers. Mustafin had light bodily injury.
