Editor-in-chief of newspaper “Molodezhnaya Gazeta” (Zhezkazgan) Berik Zhagiparov has told about threats to him. One of his good friends had a telephone call from security agency, he told him to presuade Zhagiparov to stop his activity. Otherwise, Berik Zhagiparov "will be taken into custody of 15 days (this detention will do him good)".
Earlier, on October 12, 2012 Zhagiparov made a state in Internet, where he informed the publicity about possible provocation on the part of security agency. He did not use drugs and had no firearms. Zhagiparov has also noted about pressure exerted on him; unknown young persons, who kept close watch over him during twenty-four hours, were interested in him and his professional activity.
Berik Zhagiparov believed that these threats were connected with publication of critical materials, where he rose issues on problems of fellow-townsmen, whose houses were flooded during the last flood; difficulties in subdivision of core corporation "Kazakhmys" and other themes of public interest.
It was not the first case, when a pressure was exerted on editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Molodezhnaya Gazeta” (Zhezkazgan) Berik Zhagiparov. In April 2011, he had a telephone call from an unknown person, who assaulted him and demanded to close the newspaper. Then, Zhagiparov has filed a complaint with Department of Internal Affairs of Zhezkazgan. One month later, policemen said to Zhagiparov that this telephone number was not registered and that this case would be likely closed, because they could do nothing.
