Journalists were prohibited from coverage of trial by case related to mass riots in Zhanaozen

On March 28, 2012 journalists could not attend the second legal proceeding by case, related to mass riots in Zhanaozen. The Deputy for General Prosecutor of Aktau Serik Amirov has said to journalists: "Photo, video and audio record of the trial has been prohibited in accordance with protocol decree of presided judge". The judge Aralbay Nagashbayev did not permit to make a dictophone and video records in special equiped hall for journalists.
There was a trial over thirty seven accused persons in Youth Center "Arman" in Aktau on March 27, 2012. They were charged with organization of mass riots in Zhanaozen.
More thirty media representatives covered this legal proceeding. There were two monitors, which transmitted the trial in room from four video cameras, which were set along the perimeter.
Journalists could not make a video record, even from monitor after the statement of the Public Prosecutor. They should use their pen and notebook.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov said that the trial, related to events in Zhanaozen would be conducted openly with mention of surnames and names of persons, who has been involved in this trail.
