Film crew of television channel “31 Channel” was attacked
On February 16, 2011 film crew of television channel “31 Channel”, journalists Askar Mendybayev, Irene Alimzhanova and camera man Duman Suleymenov attended the maternity hospital № 5 of Almaty by statement of relatives of dead child (he was died in maternity house № 5 of Almaty). Journalists intended to meet with head doctor asked him to provide the information about it for them. Security of maternity hospital № 5 of Almaty did not allow them to go there.
Security officers tried to prevent film crew during video record of interview with relatives of dead child several times. Then, security officer has come to there, tried to take a video camera and turn out journalists. They grabbed Askar Mendybayev and thrown him out of the territory of maternity hospital. There was a record on video camera.
Film crew of television channel “31 Channel”, journalists Askar Mendybayev, Irene Alimzhanova and camera man Duman Suleymenov have said about their intention to file a complaint with police and General Prosecutor's Office. It was connected with attack and interference in their legal professional activity.
Over the past ten years journalists tried to protect their rights, in accordance with article 155 “Interference in the Legal Professional Activity of a Journalist” of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, but their suits were dismissed, according to information of foundation “Adil Soz”.
