Kazakhstan Internet-users had access to popular blog service LiveJournal after blocking over a long period of time on December 04, 2011. But, bloggers noted about instability of access to Internet-resource.

In August, 2011 the function of some Internet-resources has been suspended, according to judgment of Saryarka District Court (Astana) which placed materials with signs of propaganda of terrorism, religious extremism, public calls for committment of terroristic acts and making of explosive devices. LiveJournal has been blocked completely from two blogs. Bloggers should use anonymisers and proxyservers for access to this Internet-resource.

On September 15, 2011 at press conference in Astana within scope of international conference "Digital Communications Kazakhstan-2011", Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliev said that, if LiveJournal fulfilled the requirements of the law of Kazakhstan (it should erase the illegal content from LiveJournal),it would return to Kazakhstan Internet-segment.

From October, 2007 to November, 2010 LiveJournal has been also inaccessible for Kazakhstan's people. The access to LiveJournal has been blocked by communication operator, according to judgment. It was done to stop the distribution of illegal information on the website www.geo.kz. The year before blocking of LiveJournal, KazNIC stopped to support the domain www.geo.kz and some other domains in zone KZ from violation of rules of distribution of domain sphere of Kazakhstan Internet-segment. Experts thought that the blocking has been connected with placement of blog of disgraced ex-son-in-law of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev Rakhat Aliev.

Information: In October, 2011 the access to 150 websites of 400 ones on territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been blocked, according to court order. There were materials with signs of propaganda of terrorism and religious extremism.
