Criminal case was opened against journalist from Karaganda Farkhat Kinzhitayev

Chairman of Convalscent Center for Alcoholics and Addicts Yuri Morozov has addressed to court with private claim, relating to institution of criminal proceedings against journalist from Karaganda of weekly newspaper "Vzglyad na Sobytiya" Farkhat Kinzhitayev. He was charged with libel and insult under sections 129 and 130 of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Yuri Morozov has demanded the recovery of KZT1000000 (1USD=145.92) as moral damage compensation.

The charges stemmed from articles "Unspiritual matters" and "He lives like a lord" by Farkhat Kinzhitayev. Articles were published in the newspaper"Vzglyad na Sobytiya" on February 23, 2011 and on March 09, 2011.

In article "Unspiritual matters" there was information on a trial between Chairman of Convalscent Center for Alcoholics and Addicts Yuri Morozov and Head of LLP "Agrofirm Shanyrak" Bakhyt Asetov. Representatives of LLP "Agrofirm Shanyrak" pretended to ground and barracks, where patients of Convalscent Center for Alcoholics and Addicts lived. Plaintiff has been unsatisfied by publication of this article without his permission. The material "He lives like a lord" was made, using information of representative of LLP "Agrofirm Shanyrak" Katherine Evsukova. She has told about the conflict between young people of the village and members of fraternity.

Journalist Farkhat Kinzhitayev has been released in his own custody. He has disagreed with charges, which were brought against him.
