Suit of Akim (Governor) of Shardary District of South Kazakhstan Oblast Margulan Marayim to journalist Zhumabek Mukanov has been dismissed

On June 01, 2011 Shardary District Court, presided by judge Ondasynova of South Kazakhstan oblast has dismissed a suit of Akim (Governor) of Shardary District of South Kazakhstan Oblast Margulan Marayim to journalist Zhumabek Mukanov about protection of honor, dignity, business reputation and recovery of KZT2000000 (1USD=145.33) as moral damage. The charges stemmed from articles "What will be with Beysenbek Bibosynov in future?", "Office of district akim (governor) has prosecuted and violated civil rights of Beysembek Bibosynov" and "Spirits of legendary, saint and well-known activist will be insulted". Irrefutable proof and argument, published in these articles has been provided during trial.
In December, 2010 Zhumabek Mukanov has been dismissed from director and editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Shardara Tynysy". When Mukanov has been the state official, he did not provide the income declaration. On February 07, 2011 court has recognized dismissal order of Mukanov as illegal one and dismissed it. He has received a wage and compensation of moral damage.
Head of Public Center of Expertize of Information Disputes under International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil Soz"Galiya Azhenova has given legal support to journalist Zhumabek Mukanov in both trials.
