Bank accounts of newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” are blocked

On October 27, 2010 bailiffs provided collection order in the amount of KZT20000000 (USD13605) on account of LLP “Journalistic Initiative”, owner of the newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya”.
This amount was blocked within frames of execution of judgment by suit of joint-stock company “Tengizneftstroy” to the newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” and journalist Lukpan Akhmedyarov.
Defendants should recover KZT20000000 (USD13605) as moral damage in solidarity order. The charges stemmed from article “For coverage of tender” by Lukpan Akhmedyarov, which was published in the newspaper “Uralskaya Nedelya” on August 06, 2010. There was information on beginning of construction on place of future gas-tube “Zhympity-Karatuba”. Joint-stock company“Tengizneftstroy” made it before results of tender. Journalist made an assumption that joint-stock company “Tengizneftstroy” has been sure in its victory of tender; was interested in reason of it. Some months later, joint-stock company “Tengizneftstroy” won the tender and then brought a suit to court. Board of Appeals of Court of West Kazakhstan oblast has dismissed the execution of judgment after court of first instance. Editorial staff of the newspaper Uralskaya Nedelya” and journalist Lukpan Akhmedyarov tried to explain that there was a wasteful sum of money for the edition and journalist during investigative procedure.
