Attacks on editorial offices and media outlets – 7

Abzal Agaliev (TV Company Tan, Almaty), Zhuldyz Toleu, Baurzhan Smagulov (TV Radio Company 31 Channel, Astana), Igor Larra (Svoboda Slova, Aktobe oblast), (Zhas Alash, Almaty), Arman Zhaniev (Bukpa, Kokshetau) and Yuri Geyst (Diapason, Aktobe) and Larissa Chen (Golos Respubliki Karaganda oblast).

Conviction to imprisonment – 5

Tokbergen Abiev (Chief Editor of the newspaper Zakon I Pravosudie, Astana). He was convicted to three years of imprisonment for an attempt of purchase of information in 2008;

Ramazan Yesergepov (Chief Editor of the newspaper Alma-Ata Info). He was convicted to three years of imprisonment for illegal collection and divulging of state secrets in August 2009).

Kamalitdin Dulatov (President of Public Foundation Kazakhskoye Khanstvo). He was sentenced to one year of imprisonment on a parole for the public criticism of Akim Arman Zhespisbayev (Shymkent) in September 2009.

Mukhtar Mukhambetzhan (President of Public Foundation El Birligi Ushin). He was sentenced to 1.5 years of imprisonment on a parole for the public criticism of Akim (Governor) Arman Zhespisbayev (Shymkent) on December 28, 2009.

Alpamys Bekturganov (Writer).He was sentenced to one year of imprisonment for public criticism of akim of West Kazakhstan oblast in August 2009.

Threats to journalists - 4

Golos Respubliki (Almaty), Vzglyad (Almaty), Madina Mukhamedzhanova (Kokshetau) and Victor Miroshnichenko (North Kazakhstan region).

Forced suspension and termination of media issue – 3

Gorod 326 (Taraz), Zemlya I Ludi (Uralsk) and Alma-Ata Info (Almaty).
