20 may 2010
In May 2010 Internet-users from 15 oblasts of Kazakhstan, Astana and Almaty have brought more 120 suits against Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan to court. Activists of campaign “For Free Internet” said about it at press conference on May 20, 2010.
It was connected with restricted access to some Internet-resources for Kazakhstan's Internet-users.
From October 2008 Kazakhstan's people had no access to popular blog-platform “Live Journal” (http://www.livejournal.com), blog-platform “Blogger” (http://blogspot.com) during six months and forum-partner of portal “Respublika” (http://comment-resp.com) during more three weeks. But, there was no any decision of court and owners, which was connected with suspension of these web-resources. Agency of Information and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan referred to court decision, concerning blocking of “Live Journal”. It was connected with blocking of blog-mirror geo.kz, but not blog-platform in total.
Plaintiffs thought that Ministry of Communication and Information did not take any measures, concerning rehabilitation of constitutional rights of Internet-users for free getting of information. They demanded to stop blocking of these Internet-resources.
