Editorial staff of newspaper “Zamana” and author of publications should recover KZT 100000 for publications of article about violations of pedagogical ethic

On May 12, 2010 Enbekshi District Court of Shymkent has rendered a court decision by suit of Acting Director of Secondary School-Gymnasia № 38 of Shymkent M. Seyitkhozhayev. This suit was brought against editorial staff of the newspaper “Zamana” and journalist Kundyzay Kalaouva. It was about protection of honor, dignity and business reputation.
Journalist and editorial staff of the newspaper “Zamana” should recover KZT 100000 (USD 680) in solidarity way and publish refutation.
The charges stemmed from article “Sponger, beast and drudge”, “Is it possible to call a schoolboy?” and “What for can schoolboy be expelled from school?” by Kundyzay Kalauova published in the newspaper “Zamana” on October 26 and November 02, 2009. These articles were devoted to violations of pedagogical ethic.
Earlier, court has examined this suit. Suits were brought by teachers M. Seyitkhozhayev and A. Kurishabayeva. Courts of first and appeal instance made judgments in favor of media outlets and journalist.
