In Almaty, a blogger held a picket in support of journalists

Blogger Nurali Aitelenov staged a solo picket outside the Almaty Police Department. 

"The goal of the picket is to demand the release of journalist Anton Fedorovich Knyazev from the Road Control Public Association, who was arrested under Article 667 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for disobedience to a representative of authority ('Disobedience to a lawful order or demand of an employee (military personnel) of a law enforcement or special state agency, military police, state field service, judicial officer, or bailiff' - AS) in Astana. The second goal of this solo picket is related to the incident in Karaganda, where a police captain pushed journalist Diana Saparkyzy from MIA KazTAG and insulted her openly. I consider this unacceptable behavior, it doesn't reflect well on any law enforcement officer who should uphold the law. In my opinion, he received too lenient disciplinary action in the form of partial non-compliance with official duties," Aitelenov told the "Adil Soz" reporter.

As it was reported, that on the night of June 28, a man tried to enter the home of KazTAG journalist Diana Saparkyzy. He informed the police officers who responded to her call that the journalist's home address was listed on the "KyzdarNet" website as a prostitute's profile. Diana and the intruder were taken to the Mikhailovsky Police Station in Karaganda to file a complaint. There, the journalist encountered unlawful actions by investigator Zhalgas Tursynov. The investigator refused to accept her statement, pushed her, used force, and insulted her with derogatory language.

On June 28, the Department of Police in the Karaganda Region apologized to Diana Saparkyzy for the unlawful actions of investigator Tursynov. At the same time, an investigation into the actions of the investigator was initiated. By the decision of the disciplinary committee, the police officer was subjected to strict disciplinary action (partial non-compliance with the official duties).
