"Almaty" TV team attacked

"Almaty" TV team was attacked while covering the trial related to the case of the death of 4-year-old Aikorkem Meldkhan during the events of January 2022. Without any explanation, a civil activist named Belyalov Baibakh assaulted the journalists. He physically harmed a journalist and a cameraman, broke the camera tripod, threatened violence, and used offensive language. 

"We sincerely share the pain of the irreparable loss together with the Aikorkem Meldkhan family. Nevertheless, we believe that violence against media representatives is unacceptable, barbaric, and the perpetrator must be punished to the fullest extent of the law," the editorial statement said. "Almaty" TV channel appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Ministry of Information and Social Development with a request to take all necessary measures to protect the honor, dignity, and safety of the channel's staff”.
