Who is lying, journalists or officials?
According to “Adil Soz” reporter, journalists of Pavlodar and national mass media covering the cogeneration power plant breakage in Ekibastuz that occurred on the night of November 27, are outraged by the work of "official sources of information”.
An operational headquarters has been organized at the city CHP and headed by Abylkair Skakov, acting akim (mayor) of Pavlodar region. Akim of Ekibastuz, heads of CAEC and Ekibastuzteploenergo, Pavlodarenergo, utilities, etc. are included into the operational headquarters.
Despite the requests of journalists, the operational headquarters does not hold briefings and live broadcasts. The press service of the akim of the region sends out cleaned thoroughly comments, that are sometimes late for 3-4 hours and quite often right before the very airs of TV news.
At 8 p.m. on November 29, the press service of the Akimat of Pavlodar region sent a message that at 10 pm an operational headquarters will have a meeting at the Ekibastuz CHP under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin with the participation of Emergency Minister Yuri Ilyin. But the briefing was postponed for an hour. All this time, journalists have been waiting for a live broadcast on Facebook. Though Mereke Nurmukhanova, the press secretary of akim, said that the broadcast was canceled and no video will be provided to media. No one explained to journalists why it happened and who gave such an order.
Journalists are wondering why the officials did not hold a briefing on November 29 in the afternoon, when they were all in Ekibastuz, or in the morning of November 30, when the media could have come to the city, why did they decide to hold it at night and without a live broadcast?
It seems that now the regional authorities are trying to hide the information of the situation.
In addition, journalists doubt the veracity of the figures provided to them on the "freezing" houses in the city. On November 28, according to official data, there were 17 apartment houses left without heating, on November 29, this figure increased to 53 multi-apartment residential buildings. Meanwhile, complaints to the media come from all over the city that has almost 700 apartment buildings. Citizens accuse journalists of lying after the information voiced in the media.
