Sandugash Duisenova Detained in Taldykorgan

On August 11, the Taldykorgan police detained the well-known journalist Sandugash Duisenova. She is charged under Article 147 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Violation of Privacy," which pertains to the "Dissemination of information about a person's private life, constituting their personal or family secret, without their consent, or causing significant harm to a person's rights and legitimate interests due to the unlawful dissemination of other personal data." The offense is punishable by imprisonment for a period of three to six years. 

Reportedly, the journalist has been placed in a temporary detention facility. The Police Department of the Zhetisy region has not yet provided any comments on the situation, despite several media outlets having submitted inquiries.
