Arrest of journalists - 2

 

Yermurat Bapi (Taszhargan, Almaty) and Lukpan Akhmedyarov (Uralskaya nedelya, Uralsk).

Conviction of journalists – 4

 

Vadim Kuramshin (free lancer, Petropavlovsk). He was convicted to three years and ten months of imprisonment for libel in 2006. Tokbergen Abiev (chief editor of the newspaper Zakon I Pravosudie, Astana). He was convicted to three years of imprisonment during attempt of getting of information in 2008. Ramazan Yesergepov (editor-in-chief of the newspaper Alma-ata Info). He was convicted to three years of imprisonment for illegal collection and divulgation of state secrets in August 2009. Alpamys Bekturganov (writer, was sentenced to one year of imprisonment for public criticism of Akim (Governor) of West  Kazakhstan region).
