There were winners of Central Asian contest of journalists “Free- about freedom of speech”

There were results of Central Asian contest of journalists “Free- about freedom of speech” On May 04, 2009. It was devoted to World Day of Press, which is celebrated on May 03 every year.

This contest was carried out by Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech “Adil soz”, International Association for Protection of Freedom of Expression IFEX, Public Organization “Freedom House”, Public Association “Journalists” (Kyrgyzstan) and National Association of Independent Mass Media (NANSMIT, Tajikistan).

There were 73 works for contest, 15 authors from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan; different styles: interview, article, information, essay and feature.

The first place was taken by correspondent from Kyrgyzstan Vitaliy Katargin (pseudonym Alexander Tokmakov), correspondent of “Deutsche Welle” (“Nemetskaya Volna”, Kyrgyzstan). The second place was taken by correspondent of the newspaper and website “Varorud” (Khudzhan, Sogdi region, Tajikistan). The third one was taken by journalist, correspondent “Nasha zhizn” Rizabek Isabekov (Pavlodar, Kazakhstan).

Sergey Rasov (Caraganda), Andrei Sarmin (Uralsk), Larissa Shilina (Taraz), Zhalil Saparov (Kyrgyzstan) and Anarkhan Zhanibayeva (Kyrgyzstan) were awarded by diplomas.
