Mafia boss, who could be affiliated to disappearance of the journalist Oralgaysha Zhabagtaykyzy was detained

Recidivist, “thief in law” Serik Zhamanayev was detained in Almaty region. The police officers have searched him during two years. Chairman of Committee of Criminal Police of Ministry of Internal Affairs Sultan Kusetov has said that they controlled his involvement in disappearance of the journalist Oralgaysha Zhabagtaykyzy. He has said about it at press conference on April 06, 2009.

Journalist, Director of Anti-Corruption Department of the newspaper “Zakon I Pravosudie” Oralgaysha Omarshanova (Zhabagtaykyzy) has been disappeared on March 30, 2007. There was publication of her article “Blood lawlessness or who stands for brothers- bandits”. It was written in style of journalistic investigation of business trip; analysis of blood conflict in the village Molovodnoye of Almaty oblast, where mass conflict between local inhabitants had happened.

She has received threats by telephone after this publication. Oralgaysha worried about her life; bought and registered gun.

There was detailed investigation of case about kidnapping of the journalist. Investigative officers did not believe that it was connected with her professional activity. They have thought that it was murder on personal grounds; asked for journalists not to cover this information. It was done frighten away S. Zhamanayev.
