Police officer has taken a photo camera from journalist of radio “Azattyk” Saniya Toyken

Regional correspondent of the radio “Azattyk” Saniya Toyken has made a review about detention of representatives of opposition party “Alga” on February 25, 2009. Journalist has seen detention of the Party activists Gaziz Sayfulin and Maks Bokayev. They were brought to the police by force.
Saniya Toyken has made a photo of these actions. Police officer has seen it and taken her digital photo camera by force. Saniya has shown to him certificate of the correspondent of radio “Azattyk” and accredit card, given by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. She has tried to convince of policemen that they returned photo camera to her. But, it was impossible.
Later, correspondents of the radio “Azattyk” have found out name of the officer, who took photo camera of journalist. It was Senior Lieutenant of Police Yerlan Biganbayev.
Sometimes later, journalist has received her photo camera. But, Saniya Toyken has said that there was liquidation of photo shots, where policemen used their force in relation to representatives of the opposition.
There was a letter, sent by fax and signed by Acting Head of Department of Internal Affairs of Atyrau region Zh. Ulzhabayeva to the editorial office of radio “Azattyk” on March 03, 2009. It was connected with incident. There was service control by this fact and results will be informed additionally. Department of Internal Affairs has made apology before correspondent of the radio “Azattyk” Saniya Toyken using this letter.
