There was appeal legal proceeding by suit of the Deputy of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ramin Madinov to the newspaper “Taszhargan”, its Chief Editor Bakhytgul Makimbay and journalist Almas Kusherbayev.
The deputy did not agree with truth information, published in the article “Poor latifundist” of A. Kusherbayev in the newspaper “Taszhargan” on April 24, 2008. He has asked to make apology before him and recover 300 000 000 tenge as damage. Medeu District Court has taken ruling about refutation of information and recovery of 3 000 000 tenge on January 16, 2009.
Defendants said that demand of recovery 3 000 000 tenge has not been logic and sufficient in their appeal, because editorial staff of the newspaper had no any money.
Board of Civil Cases of Almaty City Court has taken a decision to increase tenfold sum of recovery from 3 000 000 to 30 000 000 tenge (200000USD).
As a result of it popular opposition newspaper will be closed. A. Kosherbayev can not work anywhere.
The same situation has been with the newspaper “DAT” and its Chief Editor Sharip Kurakbayev in 1999. From 1999 newspaper “DAT” was not published and Sharip Kurakbayev could not find regular work.
