Correspondent of the radio “Azattyk” Yermek Boltay was beaten

Journalist of the radio “Azattyk” (Kazakhstan’s service of the radio “Svoboda”) Yermek Boltay was beaten at about 21.00 p.m. in the entrance of his house on January 18, 2009. He has said that there were 4-5 attackers. One of them has asked for Yermek cigarettes and money. He was refused in it. This man has blown Yermek with bottle by his head. Then strangers have begun to beat him. They escaped from there, but did not take money and valuables. Emergency doctors have made diagnosis. There was concussion of the brain and damage of moderate severity.

Yermek Boltay has applied for police with his appeal. Deputy for Head of Auezov DDIA Amangeldy Shayanov has said that there was investigation of incident and criminal case will be instituted.

Chief Editor of Kazakh’s service of the radio “Azattyk” and Internet-newspaper “Аzattyq.org” Amangeldy Kenshilikuly has said that crimes did not rob journalist. This beating was connected with his professional activity.
