The court dismissed Bauyrzhan Azanov's complaint the arrest of Makhambet Abzhan

On July 15, the Nur-Sultan city court considered a complaint by lawyer Bauyrzhan Azanov against the illegal arrest of journalist Makhambet Abzhan.

Judge Ungarsyrova denied the lawyer's demand to release his client.

As it was reported, Makhambet Abzhan, the author of the telegram channel ABZHAN NEWS,  was detained on July 3. Right after the arrest, the anti-corruption service issued a press release stating that the journalist was engaged in criminal activities.

After that, some media and social networks publics  wrote that Abzhan pleaded guilty and admitted  all charges. They referred to the alleged investigation data. On June 14, in the orda.kz website posted a video interview of Rashit Makhat. That is the businessman  who reported on Abzhan and accused the journalist of  publishing false messages discrediting his business and of extortion of  50 million tenge for not publishing such information.
