Journalist Nurzhan Baimuldin released
On January 17, 2022, A.B. Shaukenova, the judge of the specialized administrative court in Kokshetau, suspended the court ruling that arrested journalist Nurzhan Baimuldin for 10 days. The enforcement of court decision was postponed until the the prosecutor's petition and the lawyer's appeals are heard.
As it was reported, on January 12, the editor-in-chief of the Russian news service "Kokshetau-Asia" Nurzhan Baimuldin was detained and convicted on the same day. The questions that he asked the president of the country through his post on the social network were considered actions provoking a violation of law and order in a state of emergency.
The Adil Soz Foundation provides legal assistance to Nurzhan Baimuldin and hopes that the ruling on administrative arrest of the journalist will be reversed.
