The case on interfering with legal professional activity of journalist Oksana Matasova has been red taped since May

As we reported earlier,  three months ago, on May 26 Oksana Matasova, Kokshetau news website 716.kz reporter,  was covering illegal use of child labor in beautification of the Kylshakty river bank. A certain Ruslan Khugoev, who was involved in organizing that workbegan to push and curse the journalist, knock out her camera instead of answering the reporter's questions.

On the same day, the journalist  wrote filed a claim to police, stating that the man violated paragraph 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Interfering with legal professional activity of journalist", clause 2 of article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Insult", as well as art. 434 Administrative Code "Disorderly conduct". However,  on June 7, the investigative authority issued a resolution to drop criminal charges. Khugoev was fined for 14,500 tenge for violation of art. 434 of the Administrative Code "Disorderly conduct" .

The case was reopened after the victim's lawyer appealed against the drop of criminal charges under art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Matasova herself appeal to the head of the police department of the Akmola region. The case has been investigatred since June 29. However neither the lawyer nor the victim has been informed about the progress of the investigation. Yerlan Rgebaev, the investigator of the investigation department of Kokshetau Police Department does not answer phone calls and avoids meetings.

FOR THE COMMENT

In all the years of independence of the country only one case on interfering with legal professional activity of journalist  came to trial and the guilty person was convicted. It was in 2005.
