Inadequate statistics of Kostanay

The regional information headquarters has not provided Kostanay journalists of the  media with information about the number of people who recovered from COVID-19  the previous day since December 22. Previously, reports issued by the headquarters could not be called complete and detailed - they did not contain data on  covid pneumonia cases and number of deaths of Covid-19. As for covid pneumonia, the editorial board of Nasha Gazeta sent information requests to the regional administration, the health department and a complaint to the health ministry, but failed to make them provide actual data on daily basis. The regional health department promised to provide the data twice a month by did not keep to its promise. Unlike the number of deaths from Covid-19, no statistics on covid pneumonia by region is published on the official website coronavirus2020.kz.

Kazakhstanskaya Pravda reporter Yevgenia Ermakova and the editor-in-chief of Nasha Gazeta Timur Gafurov repeatedly asked questions about the lack of data on the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 in WhatsApp regional media chat. There were no answers.

 On December 24,  the press secretary of the akim (governor) of the Kostanay region Sayat Zhusupov in the same chat asked the press secretaries of the department of sanitary and epidemiological control and the health department to answer this question. There was no answer.

On December 25, another report was issued by the regional headquarters and it lacked the  data on the  recovered patients again. After journalists left a number of indignant comments in the regional media chat, Zhusupov wrote: "Good afternoon. We are going into the matter."

It should also be stated that since mid-November, the data provided by the national headquarters differed significantly form the regional one - the regional data showed 1 COVID-19 case and 97 recovered patients more than the national data.
