Journalist Akmaral Fedorova detained in Uralsk
On February 22, in Uralsk, police detained Akmaral Shayakhmetova (Fedorova), a correspondent for the newspaper Uralskaya Nedelya.
Her colleagues said that she was crosing over the square to get to the printing house. After brief negotiations, the head of the administrative police department, Zhanbolat Zhanshin, with one of his subordinates rounded Tlegen Tureshev up and dragged him to the police car.
Akmaral Fedorova asked why Tureshev was detained, citing the fact that solo pickets were allowed by President Tokayev. After she asked the question, the police rounded her up as well despite the fact that the journalist introduced herself and informed the police that she was performing her professional activities.
It is known that now Akmaral Fedorova, together with Tlegen Tureshev, are in the building of the Abay police department. According to Fedorova, a policeman named Nasipkaliev rudely demanded that she stop using her cell phone. Since that the mobile phones of both detainees have been off.
