Special session of the Pavlodar regional maslikhat (local representative body)
was announced to be held on the morning of June 17. The acting regional akim (mayor) was to be reassigned or the new one was to be assigned at the session. Many journalists of Pavlodar media had already been accredited to the event. However, at noon, the press service sent out a letter to all editors, informing them about the cancellation of the session without reasons.
Two hours later it became known that the session would still take place, however, it would be behind the closed doors. Explanations of such decision were not provided.
