Trial in the case of Ratel.kz and balborsyk.kz postponed to June 10

Court hearing upon the application of the editor-in-chief of Ratel.kz and the owner of the domain name balborsyk.kz Oleg Benditsky and Anna Ustinova, owner of the domain name ratel.kz was scheduled for 11AM at  Medeu district court of Almaty. It began at 12.25 PM and ended abruptly.

The prosecutor requested time to study the files of the case. The judge did him a favour and rescheduled the hearings for 5 pm, June 10 - the day after the election of the president.

As it was reported, on May 28, 2018, judge Gulmira Beisenova announced the court ruling on the suit of the prosecutor of Medeu district of Almaty concerning online media outlet  Ratel kz .: “To ban  issuing the online edition of the analytical Internet portal Ratel.kz, to prohibit the use of the domain name Ratel.kz  in the Kazakhstan Internet segment  for one year. ” Besides, the ruling said that the editor-in-chief Marat Asipov and other employees of the media outlet were forbidden to publish their website’s articles in other media, including social networks, during one year under the name of Ratel kz. Journalists understood that as the ban on their professional activity.
