Unknown men attacked the chief editor of the Zhuldyz-Zvezda newspaper (Aktobe region)

On February 27, 2019, at 4.30 pm, Shara Turmagambetova, the chief editor of the Alginsk regional newspaper Zhuldyz-Zvezda, was attacked by unidentified men at the entrance of the house where she lives. Shara Turmagambetova told Adil Soz reporter that when she came into the entranceway, she heard: “Here she is, sure it's she.” The journalist got a blow to the head and fell down. When she tried to get up she was hit on the face. “Except for the neighbors, they could have killed me,” Shara Turmagambetova said .

The chief editor of Zhuldyz-Zvezda relates the attack with her professional activities and her social activism. She was working on article about a tender at an oil company and was wrote on Facebook about the privatization of a district newspaper. She often criticizes the work of local authorities. Shara Turmagambetova refused from medical care. The journalist did not apply to the police.
