The judge of the Specialized Economic Court of Almaty tried to hold hearings without journalists
On July 13 the first hearing of the lawsuit of LLP "Special Financial Company DSFK (DSFK)" against Alma Telecommunications Kazakhstan (Alma TV trademark) on protecting the business reputation took place at the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of Almaty.
Journalists of various media gathered in the courtroom. Judge Aigul Ashimkhanova demanded journalists to leave the courtroom. When the journalists requested to substantiate the demand, the judge answered that the presence o media in the courtroom is possible only upon her permission and on the preliminary request of one of the parties. Still none of the journalists left the courtroom. The judge was chocked with emotions trying to find out why that very case was so interesting for media, then she postponed the hearings for August 3.

On May 22, 2018, an open letter of Alexander Parkhomenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alma Telecommunications Kazakhstan JSC (Alma TV trademark) to the chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Atameken was published on the official website of Alma TV.
A. Parkhomenko claimed that the employees of the DCFK were trying to take away Alma TV, a trademark worth 80 billion tenge, on account of debt in the amount of 16 billion tenge.
LLP "Special financial company DSFK (DSFK)" demands to recognize the open letter as dissiminating information discrediting LLP's business reputation and to oblige JSC "Alma TV" to refute it "by means of a written withdrawal the open letter from the Atameken, deleting the letter from Alma TV official website and posting a notice that the dissiminated information contradicted the reality.
